MIPTV 2009: SevenOne International to present more than 30 new fiction programs

Highlights include action-filled TV events such as Crash Point: Berlin and Cloud Chasers, successful series such as Dutch long-runner S1NGLE and The Medical Intern, 16 attractive movies such as Dream Hotel: Cape Town and upcoming TV events such as the The Whore, based on the international bestseller by Iny Lorentz.

TV-Events: In the ProSieben action thriller Crash Point: Berlin (produced by Hager Moss Film GmbH), a charter flight is on the verge of crashing into downtown Berlin. Fast-paced and thrilling, the TV event boasts some spectacular flight scenes and a stunning finale. A mysterious weather phenomenon threatens the life of brave pilot Andrea in the catastrophe movie Cloud Chasers (produced by Caligari Film). The romantic comedy Rabbit without Ears (Barefoot Films/Warner Bros.), starring German Hollywood star Til Schweiger, took cinema audiences by storm. With more than 6 million tickets sold, the romantic comedy was the most successful film in German cinemas in 2008.

Series: Life is anything but dull for Stella, Fatima and Niemke, the main characters in S1NGLE (produced by FourOne Media), who work in the same hospital unit. The turbulent life of the three friends has been fascinating Dutch prime time viewers on Net 5 since last fall, outperforming the channels average market share by up to 150 percent. Set in the high-adrenaline world of real estate, Net 5s new hit series Hidden Defects (produced by NL Film & TV) presents five young and ambitious real-estate agents whose lives revolve around opportunities in business, romance and a mysterious murder. Alternating between heartbreaking and hilarious, the Dutch series The Medical Intern (produced by FourOne Media B.V.) sees main character Elins constant struggle to decide between career and private life. The Dutch TV audience has made a clear decision and has just sent Elin into her fourth season on Net 5. Clashes of character and social upbringing are at the heart of Dutch series The Jackpot (produced by Nijenhuis & De Levita Film en TV B.V.), when two families move into an upscale neighbourhood after having won the lottery. Famous (produced by BRAINPOOL) features a small man and big TV entertainment: The latest ProSieben comedy series features chaotic shop assistant Ernie who turns into a star overnight.

Mini-Series: Starring German comedy heroes Bastian Pastewka and Christoph Maria Herbst, the hilarious Christmas tale Two Santas (produced by BRAINPOOL) hit it off immediately with Sat.1 viewers, earning prime time shares of up to 17.7 percent in the key demographic (aged 14 49).

Movies: A millionaire seeking a wife and willing to pay a million Euros? In ProSiebens upcoming romantic comedy, Mia and the Millionaire (produced by Producers at Work), the journalist Mia (Felicitas Woll) stumbles over an intriguing newspaper ad and smells a big story. But the alleged millionaire (Kai Schumann) turns out to be a journalist himself. In the captivating TV drama Hearts on Ice (produced by Graf Film), a trip to Iceland leads to a fateful encounter with the past for Sarah. Set against the dramatically beautiful South African landscape, Dream Hotel: Cape Town (produced by Lisa Film) unfolds a truly romantic plot amidst various hotel guests in one of the most spectacular resorts.

Upcoming Events: In the upcoming Sat.1 event The Frontier (produced by teamWorx), an economic crisis deteriorates into a civil war scenario. In ProSiebens Fugitives (produced by teamWorx) three friends find themselves on the run with the authorities in hot pursuit, and family members turn into the worst enemies. Things get more complicated when true love strikes. Based on the international bestseller by Iny Lorentz, which has been translated into 10 languages, Sat.1s one-parter The Whore (produced by TV60 Filmproduktion) brilliantly narrates the life of Marie, a 15th century cloth merchants daughter, who is accused of being a whore. Nerve-racking and stunning, the ProSieben catastrophe event Sea of Death (produced by Crazy Film) lets mysterious unicellular killer-organisms from the North Sea threaten the lives of many people. In the spectacular ProSieben action thriller Factor 8 by Academy-Award winning producers Wiedemann & Berg (The Lives of Others), an unknown virus on board of a plane turns live into sheer hell for passengers and the crew.
